Why the Atlantic Lighthouse Sinks more Ships than it Saves?

There was no point to the island without the lantern.

It was the thing that made it unique. A single piece of stone that sticks out of the ground like a ghostly tower and looks out over the rough Atlantic Ocean. But Gold Ice Salt Bay wasn't like other lights. There were bodies at Gold Ice Salt Bay.

The island had been cursed for as long as anyone could remember. A scary place where ships went to die. A story went around that there was a group of witches who lived on Gold Ice in the distant past, before the town was built. Because they thought the water would protect them, they worked on their skills there.

It did happen. For a while.

But in every story, the characters end up going away, and these witches were no different. They were killed or went away. Who knows? Things from the past tend to get forgotten. Why did the ships keep sinking? Because of this, a lighthouse was built on the island to keep ships away from its sharp edges.

But that tower didn't seem to make things better at all. In fact, the number of deaths kept going up after it was built, and soon the rough shores of Gold Ice were full of the bodies of ships that had been sunk. The people of the town quickly agreed that the island was cursed and that the lighthouse had become a way for the evil to get to other places.

People stopped going to Gold Ice after that. Those from the area at least.
