Never answer the door, hide, shut the f*ck up, lock everything, and never look them in the eyes if this ever occurs.
Although this may sound like advise for someone left alone in the house at night, it's not the same.
A week prior, when my wife Betty was sleeping in bed, I was indulging in some phone browsing. It had just gone midnight. Suddenly, there was a notice at the top of my phone. This is something that everyone with a video doorbell will be used to. "Motion Found." Usually, I just brush it off as it's either a car driving by or someone bumbling home after a late night. The doorbell then rang, and I received a notice saying, "There is a person at your front door’.
When I opened the app, a young woman was, indeed, standing and clinging to my doorframe. I said, "Hello, how may I help you?" and she said, "Please let me in, someone is chasing me," right away. She should stay where she was, I informed her, and I would contact the police. I heard her once more. "Please hurry, let me in, he's going to hurt me." My wife asked me what I was doing when she finally awoke. I mentioned there was a woman at our door pleading to come in as someone was after her as I got dressed to head downstairs. Betty opened the app just as I was ready to call the cops. Sweetheart, nobody is there”.
We reviewed the motion history and saw that both of the alerts had been recorded. When I initially opened it, it was just our front porch. I went to the other notification and saw that the doorbell had been…
